Dec. 7, 2006 (CWNews.com) - Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert will meet with Pope Benedict XVI in a private audience on December 13.
The meeting will take place after the Pope’s regular Wednesday public audience, Israeli government sources revealed. That timing for the meeting is somewhat unusual, since Pope Benedict has generally reserved the late-morning hours for meetings with political leaders.
The Israeli leader requested the audience, Vatican officials disclosed. No agenda for the meeting has been made public.
Prime Minister Olmert will speak with Italian Prime Minister Romano Prodi after his meeting with the Pontiff.
